What is TRON?

TRON is a blockchain for smart contracts and decentralized applications with native TRX coin. The network gained widespread adoption as an infrastructure for stablecoin transfers: a significant share of global USDT volume passes through it due to low fees.

How it works

It uses a Delegated Proof-of-Stake mechanism: TRX holders vote for a limited set of "super representatives" who confirm blocks. This ensures high throughput. TRX is needed to pay fees, obtain network resources (energy and bandwidth) and staking.

Pros and cons

  • Pros: low fees, high speed, large stablecoin volume and developed transfer infrastructure.
  • Cons: relatively high management centralization, competition with other networks, coin volatility.
