What is Chainlink?

Chainlink is a decentralized oracle network. Smart contracts on the blockchain cannot independently obtain information from outside, and Chainlink solves this problem: independent nodes collect data from multiple sources, verify it, and transmit it to the blockchain. LINK is the working token of this network.

How it works

Node operators receive LINK payments for providing data and post collateral, which they lose if they act dishonestly. Leading DeFi protocols use the network's services: Chainlink price feeds are the foundation of lending platforms, derivatives, and stablecoins.

Pros and cons

  • Pros: key infrastructure role in DeFi, operation across multiple blockchains, growing adoption in traditional finance.
  • Cons: token value indirectly tied to network usage, competition from other oracles, volatility.
