The Solana network set a historical record on September 10 for token creation: more than 263 thousand new SPL standard units were issued in a single day.
For comparison: the previous peak during the memcoin cycle wave in December 2024 was 40–50 thousand tokens per day. That is, the figure has been exceeded more than fivefold.
Who issues them
Through specialized launch platforms, 40,360 tokens were launched that day, of which 34,184 were on the Pump.fun platform — the vast majority.
Such platforms allow creating and launching tokens without technical knowledge: the process is automated, and new coins are immediately provided with liquidity and visibility.
Where did the remaining 220 thousand go
An important point: the figure of 263 thousand includes all tokens issued on the network, not just those created through public platforms.
The gap between the total number and tracked launches means that a significant portion of tokens are created outside public services. The nature of this activity cannot be determined from available data.
Platform economics
Pump.fun earned $1.8 million around the record in a single day, becoming the most profitable protocol on the network by this metric.
The scale of contribution is evident from quarterly data: in the first quarter of 2026, the platform generated $124 million from a total network revenue of $342 million — about a third of all blockchain income.
This occurred despite an overall cooling of memcoin trading compared to the end of 2024.
What this means for investors
A record token issuance should not be read as a sign of network development. Of the hundreds of thousands of units created, the vast majority have no liquidity, purpose, or lifespan beyond a few hours.
The practical takeaway: when choosing an asset in this segment, the number of new projects is not an indicator of potential, but of noise. Cryptocurrencies should be evaluated based on liquidity, trading volume, and actual use cases, rather than simply appearing on a popular platform.
