Trade turnover between the Eurasian Economic Union countries and Uzbekistan in January-July 2026 exceeded $11 billion. Uzbekistan accounted for 66% of all the union's trade with CIS states not members of the EAEU. This was reported by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
Trade dynamics
Chair of the EEC Board Bakytjan Sagintayev named Uzbekistan the main trading partner of the union among CIS countries not members. According to him, in 2025 trade turnover reached $17.4 billion, which is 1.8 times more than in 2020.
Topics under discussion
Cooperation issues were considered on October 22 during negotiations between Sagintayev and Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent. Main areas:
- international agreement on customs information exchange, being prepared on Uzbekistan's initiative; the document should accelerate customs operations, increase transparency of goods flows and simplify work for foreign trade participants;
- removal of mutual trade barriers, including an action plan for comparative analysis of technical regulation systems; alignment of mandatory requirements should simplify goods market access for EAEU and Uzbekistan and reduce business costs;
- industrial and agro-industrial cooperation;
- digital transformation of the economy.
Digitalization is among the key priorities of Kazakhstan's presidency in EAEU bodies in 2026. Sagintayev noted opportunities for expanding dialogue in electronic data exchange, cargo transportation digitalization, digital services integration and e-commerce development.
Cooperation plans
In 2026, implementation of the Joint Action Plan between the EEC and Uzbekistan's government for 2024-2026 will be completed. A new plan until 2030 is now being developed.
Uzbekistan received observer status at the EAEU in 2020. Cooperation between the EEC and the government is based on a 2021 memorandum: a joint working group operates and coordinated action plans are implemented under its framework.
