What is Bittensor?
Bittensor is a decentralized protocol that unites developers and computing resources to create artificial intelligence services. TAO is the network's cryptocurrency used to pay for and reward useful work.
How it works
The network consists of specialized subnets: text generation, data processing, forecasting, and other tasks. Miners provide AI models and computing power, validators assess their work quality, and TAO rewards are distributed proportionally to the value provided. Emission is capped at 21 million coins with halvings, similar to Bitcoin.
Pros and cons
- Pros: bet on the growing AI market, limited emission, working mechanism for evaluating useful contributions.
- Cons: difficulty in objectively assessing AI service quality, competition with centralized AI giants, high volatility.
