Xalq Banki (JSC "People's Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan") is a state bank and one of the oldest banks in the country. The bank traces its history to May 10, 1875. In 1991, it was established as "Uzberbank", the successor to the Uzbek branch of Sberbank of the USSR, and in 1995 it became the People's Bank. The bank's shareholder is the state represented by the Ministry of Finance and the Fund for Reconstruction and Development. The bank operates under license from the Central Bank No. 25 and has one of the most extensive networks in the country: about 300 service offices and more than 3,100 ATMs. Xalq Banki serves about 10 million customers and provides loans under both commercial and government programs. The head office is located in Tashkent.
