Starting April 2027, pension payments in Uzbekistan can be credited not only to a bank card, but also to a special e-wallet in a bank's mobile application. This is provided for by a presidential decree from September 28.

What and when changes

  • from November 1, 2026 — cards for pensioners will be opened with Face ID biometric identification;
  • from January 1, 2027 — through public service centers or the EPIGु portal, you can request a transfer of pension to cash form or resume a suspended payment;
  • from April 1, 2027 — the Central Bank together with commercial banks will introduce a new order for financing payments through a single account.

Why an e-wallet is needed

An alternative to a card solves a practical problem. A card requires a physical medium that can be lost or damaged, and reissuing takes time.

A wallet in an app works without plastic: funds are available immediately after crediting, and you can pay contactlessly or by transfer.

At the same time, the ability to receive payments in cash is preserved for those who find digital services inconvenient.

Beneficial work experience converted to digital format

A separate set of changes affects workers eligible for early retirement.

By November 1, 2026, the «Unified National Labor System» will feature functionality for employers to maintain records of special work experience.

Employers will electronically record:

  • work periods granting the right to a preferential pension;
  • workplace certification results for working conditions;
  • equipment injury risk level.

The goal is to simplify experience confirmation when assigning a pension and reduce paperwork circulation.

Archives of liquidated enterprises

The «Uzarchiv» Agency is instructed to accept documents from liquidated organizations not previously transferred to state archives by April 1, 2027: payroll books, hire and termination orders.

Such documents will be accepted free of charge as an exception.

This provision addresses a pressing issue: when an enterprise was liquidated without transferring its archive, a person effectively lost the ability to confirm work experience for that period.

Part of a major reform

These changes complement other initiatives: from 2027, the Pension Fund will stop accepting paper documents, and working citizens will be able to pay social tax for non-working family members.

A legislative framework for private pension funds is being separately prepared—savings are proposed to be secured as personal property with inheritance rights.

For payment recipients, the previous practical advice stands: when choosing a bank for pension crediting, compare service terms and tariffs—offerings from different Uzbek banks for this client category vary.
