Representatives of the Republican Stock Exchange "Tashkent" and Saudi energy company ACWA Power Co. discussed prospects for cooperation, including the possibility of placing the company's securities on the Uzbek platform.

Listing as a key topic

The parties reviewed ACWA Power's activities in Uzbekistan, as well as the company's completed and ongoing energy projects. Special attention was given to expanding investment opportunities through stock market mechanisms.

The central point of negotiations was the possibility of placing shares of ACWA Power on the Republican Stock Exchange "Tashkent" — meeting participants exchanged views on the prospects of such listing.

For the local market, a potential entry of a major foreign emitter from the energy sector would mean a qualitative shift: today the top trading tier is dominated by banks, metallurgy, and telecommunications.

New instruments for emitters

Company representatives were informed about efforts to expand the range of financial instruments in Uzbekistan's capital market. Specifically, the prospects for introducing the following were discussed:

  • bonds denominated in foreign currency;
  • sukuk securities.

The new instruments are expected to expand the range of financial products, create additional opportunities for attracting financing for local and foreign emitters, and offer investors new investment options.

About ACWA Power
