Paynet's subsidiary FurtherIT increased its stake in the brokerage company GOINVEST from 33.14% to 51%, completing the acquisition of a controlling stake.
How the deal proceeded
On August 18, FurtherIT invested 17.2 billion som and initially received a 33.14% stake. Now the payment group controls the company.
A two-stage structure is common practice: it allows the buyer to evaluate the asset before obtaining full control.
What the buyer receives
Stated development directions:
- expanding digital access to the capital market;
- launching new investment products;
- developing remote brokerage services;
- providing investors access to international markets.
The deal combines the fintech infrastructure of the group with GOINVEST and KAP DEPO technologies and expertise.
Why this matters for the market
On September 9, GOINVEST was included in the registry of members of the Republican Stock Exchange «Tashkent» — the company received certificate No. 74 and the status of a professional capital market participant.
This status is now under the control of the country's largest payment organization by profit.
The logic of the purchase is clear: Paynet's average monthly audience exceeds 23 million users, and a brokerage license opens the opportunity to offer them investment products within an already operating application.
Entry barrier lowered
The main practical consequence for retail investors is simplified access to the exchange.
Today, to buy securities, you need to separately select a broker, conclude an agreement, and figure out an unfamiliar interface. Integrating brokerage services into a mass payment application eliminates most of these steps.
Market participants cite the lack of simple access channels as one of the reasons for low retail investor activity: according to the Asian Development Bank, only 7.4% of the adult population saves through financial institutions.
What to consider
Simplified access is not the same as simplified investing. Local market liquidity remains limited: stock prices of individual issuers can move tens of percent after a single transaction.
The stated access to international markets requires separate regulation — there are currently no direct opportunities for residents to buy foreign securities, and authorities are only considering changes.
The deal continues Paynet's strategy to expand beyond payments: previously, the company established Paynet Venture Vectors for venture investments and announced considering a bank purchase.
