Net profit of "Ipoteka Bank" for nine months of 2026 amounted to 2.07 trillion soums against 102.5 billion a year earlier — growth of 19.2 times.

Key indicators

  • profit for nine months — 2.07 trillion soums (19.2 times growth);
  • profit for Q3 — 683.6 billion soums (+38.1%);
  • total income — 12.3 trillion soums (+8.9%);
  • loan portfolio — 36.6 trillion soums (+2.7%);
  • share of non-performing loans — 3.0% vs 6.1% a year earlier.

Source of such growth

Comparing two figures explains the nature of the result: income grew by 8.9%, profit — 19 times.

The difference is provided not by operating activities, but by reserve management. The estimated loss allowance for loans and leasing decreased to 929.2 billion soums — 73.1% less than the prior year figure.

In other words: a year ago, the bank set aside significant amounts to cover losses on non-performing loans, now this need has sharply declined.

The most revealing change

Net interest income in Q3 of last year was negative — minus 767.2 billion soums. In the current quarter, it amounted to plus 1.9 trillion.

Negative interest income is a rare and concerning situation: it means the bank paid more for attracted funds than it received from issued loans, accounting for write-offs.

The transition to positive territory by 2.7 trillion soums is the main source of profit growth.

Portfolio quality improved twofold

The share of non-performing loans decreased from 6.1% to 3.0%.

For comparison, average sector indicators: about 3.2% for private banks and around 4% for state banks. That is, the organization reached above-average market level.

Meanwhile, the loan portfolio grew only 2.7% — the lowest growth rate among major private banks, where growth reaches 30% and more.

How to interpret this

The picture is consistent: the bank was not expanding the portfolio, but cleaning up the existing one.

This is a typical strategy during integration with a new owner. The controlling stake in the organization is owned by Hungarian group OTP, and the first stage after the deal usually becomes bringing asset quality to the buyer's standards.

First — write-off and restructuring of non-performing loans, tightening of scoring, then — resumption of growth.

What it means for investors

Profit growth of 19 times looks impressive, but reproducing it next year is impossible: the one-time reserve reduction effect does not repeat.

To assess result sustainability, focus on:

  • net interest income dynamics in subsequent quarters;
  • loan portfolio growth rates — will it resume;
  • will the share of non-performing loans remain at about 3%.

Bank capitalization recently exceeded $1.5 billion — the highest indicator among liquid ordinary shares of the local market.
